We were looking for a king headboard to use until we decide upon a new bedroom suit. We wanted something that had built in storage. This item fit the bill. I have assembled many furniture kits and this was easier than some I have done. The hardware was easy to recognize in the instructions and the order of assembly was very logical. Once assembled, we just placed it behind the bed frame and did not attach it.
One thing I would point out to potential purchasers, many box spring and mattress combination will put the top of the mattress even or above the first storage areas.

Easy enough to put together, and all the pieces were there including a few spare screws and what-nots. The top piece seems to be actual wood rather than pressed, so that's nice. It's all pre-drilled in the correct places. The only part NOT pre-drilled is the part where you actually attach the headbord to your existing bed frame---again, very nice, since that may vary from frame to frame. All in all I am very pleased with this headboard. And, as an aside for which I have no explanation, my bedsheets seem to stay in place now, where with just a bed frame alone the sheets were strewn all about when I woke up. I am very, very pleased with this piece.

Bought this headboard as a gift for my mother. Wasn't sure if the quality was all there, but ordered it because it was in my price range and I had read the other reviews. Instructions were clear and if you take your time can be put together with ease. Once put together it is surprisingly sturdy and looks real nice. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a bookcase headboard. Good value, but look for the free shipping or discounted shipping because it is pretty heavy and costs can get high to ship it.
