Sylvania 9007ST BP 8 Silver Star Twin High Performance Halogen Headlight Bulb
I've been very impressed with how much better these bulbs light up the road as compared to the OEM bulb for my vehicle. (2004 Mitsubishi Gallant)
But the original bulbs lasted over 2 years and I am replacing these every 6 months (8700 +/- miles). After the first set burned out, I e-mailed Sylvania customer service and was sent a new set.
Those promptly burned out 6 months later. When the latest pair went, the only reason I purchased them again, was because of the outstanding deal I received from Amazon. The price has since gone up, but it's still half the price I would pay at the local parts store.

If you want marginally whiter light at twice the cost and quarter of the bulb lifetime, buy these lights. To pay 1/8th of the cost with the same effective brightness, go with NEW stock lights.
These headlights are not brighter at all. They are rated at "maximum legal output" when new. Most new vehicles have stock headlights that are rated at maximum legal output when NEW too. Since it's the same law for all headlight, they have the same light output.
But it was very interesting to understand how the claim for higher brightness was made, which proved to be a really creative marketing :). Read on.
"Brightness comparison is based on coil luminance measurements" (fine print from the package). Some physics here. This light is whiter. What that means is the coil is burning brighter (hence the claim based on "coil luminance"), but the bulb is blue tinted -- a blue filter that cuts off the yellow part of the spectrum and thus makes the effective light look whiter to us. But after the filtering, the amount of light emitted is still the same as on the stock lights.
About the claims of better illumination, the fine print states: "Headlamps dim over time 20% or more...[snip]... . Claims based on measured comparison between SilverStar at 100% and standard halogen bulbs at 80% light output." Wow, tell me about apples to oranges comparison! Any NEW bulb will give you the same improvement, SilverStar is not better in any way, they even don't claim that :)
For those curious why the so much shorter lifespan, some more physics. Most of the light coming from incandescent style bulbs is in the yellow side of the light spectrum (hence they all look yellowish to us). To make the light whiter at the same effective brightness, the coil needs to be heated more, while filtering the yellow part of the light spectrum (thus wasting light energy) -- net result, more heat, more energy waste, and a way shorter lifespan :)
On another note, I don't recommend trusting the rebates from Sylvania. Mine was declined, because "the item was not purchased from a participating retailer", even though the rebate was advertised and the form listed and downloaded from the Amazon product page. It's not worth the effort arguing with them about $5, unfortunately.
